UPCOMING
PROGRAMS
"Civil War Sesquicentennial Anniversary"
For the nest few years, our country will be
observing
the 150th
anniversary of the Civil War. The
Georgetown Historical Society has a special
historical exhibit at the Brocklebank Museum to honor those from our
town who
served, and
to better understand the lives of those who remained here at home.
We are looking for the public’s help in
gathering
items pertaining to Georgetown and surrounding areas during the Civil
War. Of particular interest are:
- Letters to and from
Civil War Soldiers
- Diaries of soldiers or
Georgetown residents during the War
- Photos of Civil War
soldiers
- Civil War artifacts
If you have any items that
you are willing to loan
or donate, or if you would like to help in any way, please contact us
at info@georgetownhistoricalsociety.com.
Any letters or diaries chosen for the display will be photographed or
scanned
and transcribed for you, free of charge in
exchange for
allowing us to use and share the images and transcriptions in our
Digital
Archives Program. If you have
historically significant items that you do not wish to loan or donate
but would
be willing to have photographed or scanned for our Digital Archives
Program,
please contact us.
